MG gal 5 Report post Posted April 12, 2013 Earlier this week I cleaned up the perennial beds, applied Hollytone and "fluffed" the mulch to work it in a bit. My rain gauge has over 3" of water in it today. Do you think that the fertilizer has been washed past the root zones?
Steven Nikkila 32 Report post Posted April 13, 2013 The rain will not cause the Hollytone to be washed down into the soil and past the root zone, it could be washed away from the soil if the beds are on a slope and the Hollytone is physically moved by the rainwater. Hollytone isn't water soluble.
MG gal 5 Report post Posted April 13, 2013 I'm glad to know that my efforts in fertilizing the hostas isn't wasted. All of the beds are on the level so when it warms up my plants should be happy.
Dsmith74 16 Report post Posted April 14, 2013 Only 3" of rain? I've got little creeks running across my basement floor. I'm expecting spring peepers to arrive any day now.
