Urbana Jane 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2013 Anyone have recommendations for good strawberry varieties to grow in Zone 5? I have to start my strawberry bed over and would like to plan for a long season of delicious ripening strawberries--in a small space, maybe 20-30 sq. feet. Also is it OK to plant these new plants next to, but not touching, the place where the old bed was--the old plants (that I ripped out) had a brown spot fungus? homegardenjoy 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2017 Margaret, have you had good luck with the Ozarks? My ever bearing strawberries produce a pitiful second crop. First crop in May (I'm in zone 7) tastes great but the berries are small.
