Beaufort 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2012 We've already established in this forum that I am a rose dunce. There is so much to learn in this world that I'm reluctant to start acquainting myself with the secrets and sins of roses, not wanting to be sucked into that apparently endless vortex. I have a small hedge of rugosa roses that I brought to Michigan from Cape Cod, where they add a particularly colorful kind of romance to the marshes and dunes with flowers in summer and hips in fall. Mine have been radiantly healthy until recently. Now they come to bud, but the buds dry and shrivel before opening. In my naivete I thought it might be drought (only a spatter of rain at my house for six weeks), but regular soaking hasn't helped. I'm sure the reason is simple, but it's simply a mystery to me. Dsmith74 16 Report post Posted July 16, 2012 Thrips cause that same issue on mine. I've been waiting for some thrip eater to come along, but so far no luck.
