A Loved Garden

Recommended Posts

I decided to visit a garden that is very dear to my heart. A garden that is often neglected, but never forgotten. A garden that reflects the beauty of the owners. A garden that I hope never gets forgotten. One wonderful garden with one lens. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did and do!

Wow, babe, you bring tears to my eyes.

Couple of thoughts.

1) I didn't mean to threaten your position as photo-journalist with those pruning pics I put up the other day. Just in case that's why you decided to do this!

2) I haven't written poetry since I was a kid but several, more than several, of your images made me think Haiku. Below. Maybe others will contribute... I'll print out a couple (including that awesome fly, I think!) and send them to Garden Poet Frank Harney to see what he says.

3) These images took a while to load...

4) Speaking of that awesome fly, don't you think it would make a good Plant Vs. Zombies addition? Maybe the "Death Fly Launcher?" I'd sure like to see more stuff in that collection. Or maybe the spruce tips are Viking warriors?

Okay, here goes: You bared your soul re our garden, so here's my poetry:

For the pine needles -- first photo in the bunch:

Riffle the needles

green flecked neat white shingles

scales tip to trouble.

For those sensuous hops vine tendrils

Curvaceous ballet

golden fingers hop to it

fine vine dances higher.

The candles extending themselves at the Dwarf Alberta's branch tips:

Bundled spruce needles

stand up, wearing waxed helmets

now toss their hair

For that looking-down shot into the red foliage of the intersectional peony, holey moley:

Float o'er peony

No leaf shades another

Ken spiral secrets

And to describe that brawl between the Angelina Sedum and the wooly thyme (my gosh, the thyme just leaps roight out and makes me feel it!)

Whiskery bristles

Thyme interrupts sedum's flow

wax sunbursts look on.

I also want to have a lovely and blooming garden on my backyard and those are gorgeous photos in your garden and it means that you always do proper maintenance in your garden.

Wow was just going to comment that Steve did a marvelous job doing this photo essay of a spring garden - I didn't know it would turn into garden poetry - nice job Janet...I trust this was either south or some other year as my lungwort has just started to pop but most buds are tightly held. What a nice intro to spring you two - Thanks!
